120 hectares of green paths to be added to the city of Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Urban Development Authority convening a media briefing yesterday, spoke about the future development activities in Colombo.

“This port city project was initiated in 2013. However, we could not implement it in the past five years. We will expedite its implementation, and add more land to Colombo by reclaiming the sea”, Secretary Ministry of Urban Development, Water Supply & Housing Facilities Dr Priyath Bandu Wickrama said.

He added that plans are afoot to develop the port city, the area surrounding the Berei lake along with the new city to be constructed, as a dedicated development zone.

He also said that approximately 120 hectares of green paths will be added to the city of Colombo.
